Same format as the 16 oz PET, but in PLA derived from vegetable starch: industrially compostable. Visually it is almost identical to PET—transparent, with a slightly warmer tone—and to the touch it feels a little less cold, which helps when the drink is going to be held for a while.

Ideal for: coffee shops with a sustainable positioning, environmentally certified events, and customers who explicitly ask for compostable disposables.

Watch out for this: Watch out for two things: it does not withstand heat (it deforms earlier than PET, at around 40 °C) and it should not be stored in a hot warehouse or under direct sunlight, because it warps in the box. Industrial composting does not mean it degrades in your home trash can.

Pairs with: PLA lids from the same line (dome and flat 12–20 oz). Do not mix with PET lids if you are going to communicate 100% compostable.

Onza Tip: If you are going to charge the price differential, print or stick the compostable seal on the cup. The customer does not pay for what they do not see.
